Task Card - Overview & Timeline
Your task is to create a timeline that clearly shows the commonly used timeframes and periods for the study of Ancient Egypt and, using notable events, to explain what it is that characterized each of these periods.
Typically the study of Ancient Egypt can be categorized into five periods as follows:
1. Pre-dynastic
2. The Old Kingdom
3. The Middle Kingdom
4. The New Kingdom
5. The Late Period
Of course, depending on your sources the names and dates of each period may differ slightly (remember historians are trying to tell a story from artifacts that are more than 5000 years old in some cases!), as well as the complexity, importance, and features of each period.

Activity 1
Using the following criteria please complete a timeline that briefly and clearly outlines and explains the overall history of ancient Egypt.
With each of the five periods you should clearly explain any notable characteristics, specific architecture, new innovations, religious or cultural history, or any famous or historically significant events or people. You can make either a digital or hard copy assignment. Remember, be creative and try to have a little fun with it. Good luck!
